I have to share it.
So I’m sitting at home ploughing through a bunch of emails, trying to get less behind my stuff. A phone call comes in. Our aviation medical doctor. Weird. I had not contacted him, I just passed my pilot medical last month and I’m not aware of any issues. Besides, it’s a Sunday afternoon. I answer.
“Hey listen, we want to help Ukrainians, so in our medical clinic, we will make the immigration medical appointments for Ukrainians a priority, and I also plan on having an interpreter in our office for those of them who don’t speak English” WOW!
Harshbir has his medical clinic together with his father and wife, all of whom are medical doctors, and both Harshbir and his dad are also very competent pilots. But just to mention, none of them are of a Ukrainian background, but the passion with which he pas reorienting his always busy clinic to help Ukrainians – you could have imagined he was.
He asked me to do a few translations for the website, medical forms and voice recordings for the phone system in Ukrainian, and we were all set by the end of the day!
And then I was…
- “Harshbir, can you point me out in the direction of some medical suppliers who could possibly donate some tourniquets, or at least give some discount?”
- “How many do you need?”, asked the good doctor
- “Maple Hope Foundation is looking to send 1000 of them to Ukraine”.
- “Consider it done. I will talk to our supplier, and if they do not donate, our clinic will just buy them for Ukraine. This is the least we can do!”.
